Federal AEMDD Grant

When this grant came to Ed Tech Productions, my position was to create the online space that would replicate the program to allow it to live beyond the life of the grant. I centered the teaching of video technology and skills on the rookie mistakes that every new videographer makes. I also took over facilitation of the grant which included working directly with teacher participants, conducting professional development workshops, collaborating with the program evaluator, and other administrative  duties, including presenting at AEMDD conference in Washington D.C.

The client wanted to replace several of their face-to-face compliance trainings with online courses. I tried to infuse each module with humor, interesting graphics, engaging videos, and interactivity.

 

I constructed the modules in Captivate and they are housed in the JPA Learning Library's learning management system.

Note-taking

​

This program introduces a method that AVID utilizes for focused note-taking, called the “Cornell Note-Taking System.” Using video, text, and photos, users are taken through a complete cycle of note-taking. The site design permits instruction for individual teachers, whole group training, or students. I designed the content sequence to include an introduction, video examples, tips, and resources that encompass middle and high school. I used photo series to show specific steps and note-taking samples.

​

All new CTE teachers must complete an orientation within 30 days of hire. Conducting ongoing orientation sessions was overburdening staff resources. The online version made the process easier for both the teachers and trainers.

Federal PDAE Grant
​

Due to the success of the Picture This program, we received a grant to further our arts integration efforts. The three-year program included monthly workshops for 45 teachers where we led them through activities designed to introduce the arts, classroom strategies, lesson planning, and integration support. The online resource is meant to document the program and give it a life beyond the grant period.

Western School of Feng Shui
​

The Western School of Feng Shui Online Course blends design psychology with Eastern philosophy to illustrate many practical ways to enjoy the benefits of Feng Shui. This module introduces the Bagua Map, which is applied to physical surroundings to connect learners to the treasures in their life. The course teaches you how to locate important areas of your home and workplace to give them significance and meaning.

Using the Canvas learning management system, I constructed an online course to extend the reach of the Academy's curriculum. The challenge was to mine the LMS features to mimic activities in the face-to-face training.
